21st Century Challenges To a 1st Century Faith

A Higher Things ® Youth Retreat

February 22-23, 2018

Hosted by:
Mount Olive Lutheran Church
Rev. Ted Giese
Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada

The 21st century poses challenges to the Christian faith as never before. Sometimes these challenges can cause the faithful to stumble and doubt, especially when you are leaving home and congregation and setting out on your own. What does a first century religion like Christianity have to do with 21st century life? Has scientific method replaced religious faith? Does the existence of suffering and evil prove that God doesn’t exist? What is truth? Is there an absolute truth or only relative truths? How do we know what we know? This retreat will pose hard questions and deliver solid, Christ-centered, biblical responses for a confident faith in uncertain times. Bring your questions and doubts and let’s talk about them.

Rev. William M. Cwirla is senior pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hacienda Heights, CA where he has served for 25 years. He lives in Hacienda Heights with his wife Karen. Pr. Cwirla is a Regent of Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne and a regular writer for Higher Things’ magazine.
