Deliver Us From Evil

A Higher Things Youth Retreat

September 28-29, 2018

How do we, as the baptized, see the material and spiritual world through the lens of our faith and life as Christians?  When we pray the Lord’s Prayer daily, “Deliver us from evil (one),” namely the devil, what are we actually saying?  What do angels and demons have to do with me today? What do we mean when we pray Luther’s morning and evening prayer, “For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me”? Come to learn about the spiritual world of angels and demons, learn about how we see them in face of the physical, sinful world and in light of our daily struggles centered in Christ. We need to know that there is a real spiritual battle in a face of a very rationalistic, sinful world but even more so we need to learn how to see it in the joy of the battle won in Christ Jesus.

Rev. John Dreyer is the Senior Admission Counselor at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, IN. Rev. Dreyer has written and taught on the subject of the supernatural from a Christian perspective, and is a frequent presenter at Higher Things conferences.
