Today’s Reflection: Introit for Advent 4
Daily Lectionary: Isaiah 43:25-44:20; Revelation 11:1-19
Rain down, you heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down the One; Let the earth open her womb, and bring forth Salvation. (Isaiah 45:8)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Can you feel it? It’s almost here! He’s almost here! Christmas Eve is tomorrow! What joy! Christmas Eve is on a Sunday this year! Can you beat that?
He’s coming! He’s coming on the clouds of heaven soon! He’s coming tomorrow to be born of a woman! And He’s coming tomorrow in the Supper for you, too! Take, eat, His Body. Take, drink, His Blood. He’s coming to save you!
Put away your sins. Turn them into the coal that threatens naughty children on Christmas. Get rid of them. Change—really change, and not just for Christmas but from now on! Be different. Don’t just stop doing things you shouldn’t do but add love to all the things you do. Love those who love you back, and love those who don’t. Forgive those who sin against you before they are even sorry. End your grudges and the let go of the hurt you’ve carried for so very long. Imitate the One born of Mary whose coming is going to rock the universe!
It’s going to be a white Christmas for everyone tomorrow! God is about to make everything white with the blood of His Son. It’s about to rain righteousness down from heaven! The skies are going to open. The earth is going to open her womb and bring forth salvation out of Mary’s womb. The heavens will declare the glory of God in the host of angels singing. Jesus is coming to be born. God is going to be born of the Virgin!
He will make all things new. He will give you life in His life. He will give you immortality with His death. On the Cross, He will answer for every one of your sins, every transgression, every deep, dark iniquity. All of the Son of God’s righteousness and faithfulness will be imputed to you by faith alone. The only way to prepare for the Lord’s coming is by His coming to you.
It’s almost here! Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! It’s even starting to rain down righteousness! Our salvation is near! In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
Stir up Your power, O Lord, and come and help us by Your might, that the sins which weigh us down may be quickly lifted by Your grace and mercy; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. (Collect for Advent 4, LSB)
