Daily Lectionary: Isaiah 43:1-24; Revelation 9:13-10:11

But now thus says the Lord, He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: “‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by Name, you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1-2)

In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. God is coming. He has not forgotten you. He has remembered His promises to you. He is coming in the manger on Christmas. He is going to the Cross. He is coming in glory to judge the quick and the dead. You will be saved.

Don’t fear. Don’t fear death. Don’t fear your sins. Don’t fear your failures. Don’t fear your faults. Don’t fear your deep dark iniquities that no one knows about except God. Don’t fear your internet history. Don’t fear your past or your future. Don’t fear the devil. Don’t fear hell.

You will never see hell. Not ever—not even from a distance. You won’t taste death—not even a bite of it. Your sins can’t harm you—not now, not ever. For God the God who created you has also redeemed you. He has bought you back from your sins, from death, and from the power of the devil with the holy precious blood of Christ. He has called you by name at the baptismal font. You are His as surely as Jesus is His.

When you pass through the waters of this life, He will be with you. When you go through the rivers of this world, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fires of this life, you shall not be burned and the flames shall not eat you up.

For God Himself is coming to save you—in the arms of the Virgin and on the Cross. He will buy you back from all that you will, have, and can do. He will save you. You are precious in the sight of God. He honors you. He loves you.

It’s not that you are a better person than other people or somehow worthy of His love. You aren’t. He made promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and He fulfilled them in His Son. He loves His Son. He loves His Israel, His only begotten, so He loves you.

God is coming. He has not forgotten you. He has remembered His promises to you. He is coming in the manger this Christmas. He is going to the Cross. He Is coming in glory to judge the living and the dead. You will be saved. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.

Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east and from the west I will gather you. I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not without; bring my sons from and afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth, everyone who is called by My Name. (Isaiah 43:5-6)
